Reliquary statue figure of African ethnicity Kota from Gabon, wood covered with plates of brass - Height: 40,5cm Width: 10 cm Depth: 7 cm Age: + / - 1990 

Reliquaries baskets or "bwété" were kept at the back of the head box. The "bwété" were venerated by offerings and prayers whose purpose was to bring prosperity to the clan. At the top of "bwété was placed a statue reliquary with a highly stylized body shaped diamond and a head covered with metal.
